👨✈️ Meet Your Instructor
Mike Jackson, CFI
Mike is passionate about helping pilots improve their control, awareness, and confidence in the cockpit. He started flying in 1983 and has spent the past five years flying tailwheel aircraft commercially on Martha’s Vineyard. He holds an instrument rating(2015), a commercial pilot certificate(2020), and became a Certified Flight Instructor in 2025.
With over 800 hours each in the Cessna 182 and Cessna 150, and approximately 500 hours in tailwheel aircraft, he brings both depth and variety to his instruction. He’s especially experienced in the Waco biplane (500+ hours) and now trains students in a 1979 Decathlon. Topics covered include basic tailwheel handling, introductory aerobatics, and upset recovery.
Mike has experience flying with and teaching pilots of all ages and experience levels.
📍Where We Fly
Cape Cod Aviators operates primarily out of Katama Airfield (1B2) on Martha’s Vineyard, home to the longest grass runways in the country. With its laid-back airfield culture and open coastal views, it’s an ideal setting for tailwheel training.
Additional instruction is available at Falmouth Airpark (5B6) on Cape Cod, which features both asphalt and grass runways. These varied environments offer a valuable training experience across different surfaces and conditions.
